Unimog sales have been the foundation of our business since the inception of Adventure Motors. Few vehicles are capable of operating in the extremes of climate and terrain conditions that we experience. Our commitment to going anywhere, at anytime is a true challenge in Costa Rica! The Unimog is unsurpassed in fulfilling our commitment, year in and year out.
Look at the side view of our Unimogs. Notice how the cab is way forward, over the front wheels. That design allows for a full size carrying capacity while maintaining a short wheelbase. This short wheel base allows for a very small turn radius!
Looking at the truck from any side, you can see the generous clearance that allows the Unimog to slog through deep mud or cross streams and rivers that would leave most other vehicles stuck. The Unimogs drive train is perfect for finding traction in the most difficult conditions: yet it is docile and comfortable enough to drive cross country on paved roads.
Contractors and Developers use our vehicles to get crews and materials to their jobsites year around, even in the heavy rains. Some tour companies use their Unimogs to conduct tours through the jungle, allowing tourists to see amazing nature via safari. Other tour companies take clients on surf explorations up and down the coast from their locale. Farmers love Unimogs! They use the truck as a tractor on the farm, then load their harvest in the bed and drive the produce to town at legal road speeds!
There is an enormous variety of Unimogs to choose from. Most Unimogs built over the years are custom made to the buyers' specifications. Therefore most are unique and are not available in any appreciable quantity.
However, the Unimog has also been produced in large production runs for military contracts. At Adventure Motors we supply ex-military Troop Transport Unimogs that provide you with the best possible combination of selection, ability, price and quality.
One of our rules at Adventure Motors is to only sell trucks that can receive continued support over the years by the manufacturer, mechanics and a readily available parts supply. We promote basic, simple trucks that can be worked on in every part of Costa Rica. We don't want you to become stranded due to a lack of parts or technical information, or needing expensive electronics! Here are a few samples of Unimogs we are experienced in and recommend for Costa Rica:

The Unimog 416 Troop Transport from ex-military service has been our most popular option for supplying a reliable 4x4 Mercedes Benz diesel truck for the lowest possible price. The truck is equipped with a 4 speed transmission and 2 speed transfer case. Forward/reverse shifting is performed separate from the main gear box, allowing 4 speeds in reverse! There are differential locks on the front and rear axles. Take a look at the number of gear levers in the photos! What incredible control!

The year range of 416 trucks coming out of European military service is from 1975 to 1982. While the 416 can still be supplied, we are finding fewer of these trucks over the past 2 years, and prices are rising as the supply diminishes. The 416 is equipped with the OM352 diesel engine, world renown for its performance and durability. The OM352 was so successful that the manufacturer, Mercedes Benz chose to continue to build the motor for fitment into the truck that replaced the 416: the 1300.
The Unimog 1300 Troop Transport from ex-military service may soon become our most popular option for supplying an affordable, reliable 4wd Mercedes Benz diesel truck. As supplies of the 416 diminish, the 1300 continues to be available in quantity. The prices are not significantly greater than current 416 prices.

The year range of 1300 trucks currently coming out of European military service is from 1982 to 1989. The 1300 is equipped with the OM352 diesel engine, world renown for its performance and durability. The 1300 sports an improved cabin design, with seating for the driver and 2 passengers. In addition, the 1300 is heavier and has a larger carrying capacity than its predecessor, the 416.
